Known as a city of rich history, San Antonio’s infrastructure has been woven through centuries. Included is a luxury line-up of historic hotels, many celebrating their 100th and 150th anniversaries in 2009. In 1909, San Antonio was reaping the rewards of success from local breweries and monumental railroad growth. This inspired much of the city’s development, building a foundation of captivating architecture that has helped craft a destination like no other. These historic hotels lie within mere blocks of one another and are a short walk from the Alamo, River Walk, shopping, restaurants and the charm of downtown San Antonio. They are ideal for one-of-a-kind events, meetings and intimate getaways.

San Antonio River Walk Expansion Leads Nation in Urban Ecosystem Restoration
In extending its famed River Walk from two to 13 miles, San Antonio will undertake the nation’s largest ecosystem restoration in an urban area. Already a leader in the reuse and repurposing of buildings, conservation of historic sites and preservation of architectural feats like the city’s five Spanish colonial missions, this latest environmentally friendly endeavor highlights San Antonio’s vision to preserve its natural landscape, distinguishing the city as a place that invests in the generations to come. The portion of the River Walk extension earning this acclamation is a nine mile stretch that will connect the original River Walk with four of San Antonio’s Spanish colonial missions to the south. Scheduled for completion in 2014, this bucolic addition will have an emphasis on ecotourism and historic preservation. The restoration will offer serene, natural environments, an enhanced aquatic habitat, over 20,000 new trees and acres of native landscaping. Features will also include trails for hiking and biking. Currently, the River Walk runs through downtown along the spring-fed San Antonio River, connecting thousands of hotel rooms with riverside restaurants, shops, theaters and historic sites. It’s one of the nation’s most culturally rich and diverse locations. In May 2009, the first phase of the River Walk extension will be complete, extending an additional two miles north linking the San Antonio Museum of Art and the eco-friendly Pearl Brewery redevelopment area. With a total investment of $345 million, the San Antonio River Improvements Project provides immense potential for further economic development.  The AP Minimize

This is the house pictured in ads on WantsCheck.Com and T6Driver.Com.  "The AP" was purchased solely to provide an alternative to living at the Randolph Inn during the long PIT course.  The house that was purchased is ideal in terms of location and luxury.  The AP is less than ten minutes from Randolph AFB and is a mere 2.5 minute walk to Borders Bookstore/coffee shop and the convenience of the Forum shopping center.  The AP hosts an impressive technological interior and upper scale features to make your TDY more enjoyable.  Staying at the AP costs the same as staying at the Randolph Inn (except everything is included and you don't have to pay extra for anything).  If you stay at the AP instead of the Randolph Inn you will be reimbursed for your TDY just as if you had stayed on base.

For Availability please scroll down to the bottom of the page

The AP is located in the upscale Universal City neighborhood of Olympia Hills.  The neighborhood is an older and very wooded neighborhood behind the Forum Shopping Center.  Some of the highlights of the AP location include:

  • Eight minute straight shot drive to Randolph AFB
  • 2.5 minute walk to Borders bookstore and the Forum Shopping Center
    • TGIF
    • Outback Steak House
    • Macaroni Grill
    • Starbucks
    • Just about every store & restaraunt imaginable
  • 3 minute drive to Hooters
  • 3 minute drive to Olympia Hills Golf Course (lowest rate for AP residents)

The AP is secluded and quiet in a woody neighborhood bordering the exceptional convenience of the Forum shopping center through a private gate.

The AP is a four bedroom, two story, house with 2.5 bathrooms and a two car garage.  It has a sizeable fenced in backyard that hosts a small outdoor pond with fish, two turtles, and a small garden.  The landscaping includes shrubbery and several large shade providing trees.  The house sits at the end of a culvert in a scenic and quiet location.  All floors are carpeted with the exception of the kitchen, dining room, and bathrooms which host an ornate tile.  The house includes a small wet bar near the living room and a  brand new four person hot tub in the outer porch area.

The lawn is mowed by a fully automated robotic lawnmower and vacuuming is provided by four fully automated robotic vacuum cleaners.  Landscaping is provided by a landscaping service.

The AP has been packed with toys and tools to make it convenient for work and play.  The entire house is blanketed with a Wireless N network and high speed internet access (up to 5mps) and allows for wireless printing, scanning, and faxing from the study or the upstairs master bedroom.  If you don't have a wireless card you can plug into the ethernet jack in the bedroom and get the same features.  In addition, an ethernet network exists throughout the house and ties into the house Xbox 360 which has its own Xbox Live account.  The Xbox comes with Halo 3, Ghost Recon, Over-G Fighters, Tiger Woods, NCAA Football, and several other games.  The master bedroom comes with a Wii and Wii Fit balance board and Tiger Woods, NCAA football, Mario Kart, and a baseball game along with the Wii Fit software.  The upstairs master bedroom comes with a Playstation 3, Guitar Hero, and two guitars.

Full maid service is provided every other week and all utilities are included (local phone only).  Pets are not allowed inside the house and are only allowed to stay in the garage/yard with prior approval on a case by case basis.  Under no circumstance are they allowed inside the house.

Residents are not locked into the lease and can leave immediately at any time after notifying the house owner.  The reason there is no lease is because once you've seen the house you won't want to leave.  It's simply that good.
