Overview of the AP

The AP was purchased to provide an alternative to the Randolph Inn during the long PIT course and is ideal in terms of location and luxury.  The location is truly outstanding, and is by far the best feature of this PIT Pad.  Imagine waking up and taking a five minute stroll through a beautiful neighborhood to Starbucks to read the paper and get some studying done.  The AP is less than ten minutes from Randolph AFB and a mere five minute walk to Borders Books and the amazing convenience of the Forum shopping center.  This is a free time force multiplier.  The culvert and lush foliage of the neighborhood nestles the house from sight or sound of the shopping center even though it's just a short walk away through a private neighborhood gate.  Beyond the incredible location, the AP is rich on first tier features to allow you to spend more time studying and relaxing.  More than forty pilots have enjoyed the house over the three years it has been operating, and the owner created this website to provide aviators training at Randolph AFB with one stop shopping.

For Availability please scroll to the top of the page

Staying at the AP costs the same as staying at the Randolph Inn except you get a great deal more for Sam's dollar.  You don't need a non-A or to be denied on base lodging to stay at the AP.  You can simply choose to live off base and you will be reimbursed just as if you had stayed on base.  No paperwork or forms are required.

Everything is included at the AP.  This includes all utilities, local phone, fully loaded DirecTV in every room, weekly maid and laundry service, regular yard maintenance, and very high speed wireless internet.

The AP is located in the upscale neighborhood of Olympia Hills in Universal City, Texas.  It's one of the oldest and nicest neighborhoods in the area and has more trees and vegation than newer housing areas.  Click here or here to watch videos taken of the neighborhood.  The AP is a mere eight minute drive to Randolph AFB.

Location, location, location.  Everything you need is a five minute walk from the house.  While we can't list all the stores and restaraunts as the Forum is one of Texas' largest shopping malls, you can see the entire list by clicking here. Highlights includ Starbucks, Best Buy, and roughly thirty different restaraunts including the Lion & Rose British Restaraunt and Pub.  To just view the restaraunts and pubs list, click here.

The AP itself is a four-bedroom, two-story house with two and a half bathrooms and a two car garage.  It has a sizeable fenced in backyard.  There is a screened in back patio with bricked-in grill, table and chairs, and a hot tub that ensures outdoor backyard activities will be unfettered by the notorious mosquitos that fill San Antonio summers.  The landscaping includes shrubbery and several large shade providing trees.  A landscaping service takes care of the yard.  All floors are carpeted with the exception of the kitchen, dining room, and bathrooms which have an ornate tile floor.  The house has a small wet bar near the living room and the house has high vaulted ceilings.

Residents do not require a key to enter the AP.  Installed near the front door is a pin pad, similar to those used in security vaults, and each resident is issued their own unique four digit pin code.  Residents simply plug their code in to enter the house.  Codes are changed when residents move out.  The same four digit code used to enter the house is also used to gain access to a resident's bedroom.  The convenience of the house pin pad allows for cleaning and maintenance personnel to do their jobs without having to coordinate with the residents.

The house also hosts several security cameras that ensure security for residents and allow for monitoring of cleaning and maintenance personnel in common areas (the cameras inside the house common areas can be turned into privacy mode by residents).  There are no cameras outside of common areas.

The house is blanketed with a wireless network and high speed internet (15 meg/sec download and 2 meg/sec upload).  The network allows for wireless printing, scanning, and faxing from the study or the upstairs master bedroom.  Residents without wireless computer connectivity can plug into the ethernet jack located in each bedroom for internet access.  In addition, the ethernet network ties into the house Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii game consoles.

The house also has its own CAC reader for resident use, and a house iPod Touch that is configured so that residents can quickly take photos/video and email them to the AP landlord and maintenance personnel.  The iPod Touch also has an attached credit card reader so residents can swipe cards to make rent payments quickly using their Government Travel Cards if they do not want to pay online.

Full weekly maid service is provided to include washing linens and cleaning and putting away dishes.  The cleaning personnel will also do resident laundry and fold and put clothes away if desired.  A professional carpet cleaner cleans all the carpets quarterly, ensuring they are clean for each set of residents.

Pets are generally not allowed inside the house.  If you have pets, arrangements can be made on a case by case basis.

If you are lucky enough to have been told by the Randolph Inn that they don't have room for you on base, you can get our Premium Package.  The Premium Package is covered by the government rate for those who were not offered on base accomodations, and includes weekly service from a professional chef who will design the week's menu, purchase the ingredients fresh, and prepare and store dinner at the AP for each week night in individualized containers.  She has several menus already available, has a pin code for entry into the house (no coordination required), and will leave after cleaning up the kitchen and storing the food in the dedicated chef service frig/freezer, with reheating instructions.  The food is included in the Premium Package.

Premium services require that the Randolph Inn was unable to house you on base (you don't need a non-A). You can contact the Randolph Inn at (210) 652-1844 or email them if you have questions.

Residents have no lease and can leave immediately at any time after notifying the house owner.
